Now in Steeple Bumpstead

We are very pleased to announce that in May 2009 the nursery received The National Day Nursery Quality Counts Award. This is the Investors in Children Kite mark, an accreditation helping to improve quality through a rigorous self-assessment process.

 

Gaining Quality Counts is a special achievement and illustrates that the nursery is working above and beyond the government requirements.

 

Being awarded the status brings a host of benefits, including increased staff motivation, which in turn helps to improve care and education for children and encourages staff to reflect on practice and advance the quality of care. Working towards Quality Counts, and then working to maintain the kite mark after the award is given, will encourage staff to reflect on their practice and their professional skills, and advance the quality of the care they offer to your children.

 

We have achieved the top 5* rating for 'scores on the doors' from the environmental health for our food hygiene and premises.

Welcome to The Ashdon House of Children now in STEEPLE BUMPSTEAD near Haverhill.

 

We offer and guarantee to provide a highly recommended, National Day Nursery Quality Awarded nursery (one of the few in the area) long established, family run day nursery to lovingly care for your children in a safe environment from six weeks to eight years old.

 

The nursery was established in 1989 and run to a high standard at all times throughout its history.

 

The experienced hard working, long long serving staff makes this nursery individual.

 

The dedication from the staff showed when our nursery was recently forced to re-locate from the site in Ashdon. We found accommodation in the village of Steeple Bumpstead, where we are enjoying our new premises while we await the building of our new purpose built, spacious, bright, air conditioned throughout nursery on the same site.

 

We are open from 7.30am until 6.30pm daily for caring, fun filled full days, morning or afternoons sessions, or flexible sessions according to parent’s individual needs.

 

We have a large, artificially grassed outside play area for all the children to
   enjoy the slides, play houses, sand pit, bikes and trikes and balls. We have a garden area where the children are growing vegetables, and enjoying digging in the earth.

 

The garden is also home to our nursery guinea pigs, Rosie and Pepper, who love the fresh grass the children collect each day.

 

The nursery operates each of the rooms with care and love for all the children at all times.

 

We have been awarded 5 stars for our ‘Scores on the Doors’ kitchen and hygiene inspection.

 

Our last Ofsted Inspection was in July 2009. Some of the comments made were:

 

‘At Ashdon House of Children, children are cared for in a warm and welcoming environment, and are supervised by staff to ensure they remain safe. The staff work well together to provide a calm and homely environment, in which the children feel relaxed and secure.

 

‘Children benefit from daily opportunities to experience fresh air and physical activity as they access the spacious garden.’

 

Staff

The Staff are highly qualified and staff to children ratios range from 1:3 for the youngest to 1:8 for the very eldest.
